This Pastor and this Church has experienced a great loss in the home going of our dear sister, Rachel Fay Caldwell Alexandre. “Sister Rachel” as we affectionally called her, was indeed a blessing to the Kingdom and in the Kingdom. The world is certainly a better place because Sister Rachel passed this way. What an awesome life, loving mother, caring educator, wonderful church member, one who loved the Lord and sought to do His will. Sister Rachel was the consummate Christian. She was caring, had a great concern for all humanity and was the embodiment of compassion. Sister Rachel cared about everyone, and her caring for her Pastor and his wife was legendary. She ensured that they were well taken care of: wonderfully prepared meals, special holiday meals (she enlisted the help of others to make sure no holiday was missed); Sister Rachel would always take into account the First Lady’s health issues in her food preparation. The Pastor and his wife were not the only recipients of her culinary efforts, many, many others were blessed as well.
Sister Rachel loved and genuinely cared for people. She understood the new commandment that Jesus gave to His followers of all times: “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:34, 35 KJV)
It was obvious that Sister Rachel was a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. Sister Rachel was keenly concerned about the work of the Kingdom. She wanted His Kingdom to grow and multiply. She had a passion for being informative and her bulletin boards provided the perfect medium. This Pastor shall certainly miss Sister Rachel, but I am so much the better for having known this dear lady.
To God be the glory for a life well lived!
