The year is c.A.D. 30, and a despotic, self-serving, governmental representative of imperial Rome, posed a question to the Lord Jesus Christ that has reverberated through-out the centuries. The despot is Pontius Pilate, the 5th procurator of Rome in Palestine from A.D. 26 to 36. The question is recorded in John 18:38 of the holy writ. “Pilate saith unto Him, What is truth?” The unfortunate is that Pilate did not allow Him who is “the way, the truth, and the life,” to bring him into the knowledge of the truth. The Word continues: “And when he (Pilate) had said this, he went out again unto the Jews.” Sadly, Pilate was not a seeker of truth. To the contrary, hear the Master Teacher: “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him. If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31, 32)
Dear ones, please know this; the truth is liberating. Truth is more than the quality of being in accordance with experience, facts or reality. Truth is not what the world says or the Deceiver presents to us. Truth is found in a person. That person is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the personification of truth, for grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Jesus is the truth. Ah, as we walk in His liberating truth in 2018, we are freed from the shackles of the Evil One, the Deceiver, the one who walked about, seeking whom he may devour. The truth shall make you free! You are not, and I am not, who the world says I am or who you are. We are not defined by the world’s characterization of us.
In 2018, it is the desire of this Pastor that we, the people of God, walk in truth. The Lord Jesus has taken the necessary preparatory actions to ensure that we know and walk in truth. Jesus tells us in John 16:13: “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.” WOW!
The truth is:
- I am who He says I am
- I can do what He says I can do
- I can have what He says I can have
- I am an heir of God, a joint-heir with Christ
- I am fearfully and wonderfully made
- I am blessed of God
- The blessings of God are contingent upon our obedience to Him and His Word
Be blessed as you walk in TRUTH.
