With this Pastor’s continuing emphasis on the Sunday School and the push for an increase in attendance, well praise God, we are beginning to experience a greater participation in the totality of Christian education. “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of Soul and Spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
The basic handbook of Christian education, the Bible, claims that it has special power, and it does; a living power that judges as with an all-seeing eye, penetrating a person’s innermost being. Soul and Spirit…..Joints and marrow. The totality and depth of one’s being. The Bible will separate man from sin. (Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee [Psalm 119:11]). However, sin will separate man from the Bible, and the God of the Bible. “But your iniquities (sins) have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2).
Dear Ones, now more than ever, we need the Word of God. We need the Sunday School, the dynamic Word of God, active in accomplishing God’s purpose, taught in age and gender appropriate classes by anointed teachers. We need the Bible Study, the Mission, the Brotherhood. Wherever and whenever the Word of God is taught, there is the “exposing and sifting, analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.”
Let us continue in Christian education.
