Musings with the Pastor.
“Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord (Proverbs 18:22).
Husbands, have you considered what the Lord has done for you in causing you to find a true wife? Such a woman is fully described in Proverbs 31:10-31. A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband. She brings him honor and joy. My dear brothers, you do know that a good wife is an integral part of God’s plan for your life. “House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord.” (Proverbs 19:14). Well, that only makes sense because James 1:17 tells us that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” This Pastor can certainly attest to the veracity of that statement. He did indeed obtain favor of the Lord when he married Thelma Odessa Flix Bates on June 13, 1957. If your math is not good, let me help you. On tomorrow, that will be fifty-nine years.
Dear Ones, there is no secret to a long and godly marriage. Just stay married and keep the Lord in your marriage! Two other things:
- Divorce should never be an option and
- Commit to live out the provisions of Ephesians 5:22-23.
June 13, 2012 is the date that this Pastor’s mother went to be with the Lord. We praise the Lord for the Life and Legacy of Mother Mattie Pearl Britton.
On June 13, 1957, this Pastor married a good wife. On June 13, 2012, Mother Britton was received into the Courts of Glory. Amen and Amen.
