While most of us in Christendom will readily agree that without faith it is impossible to please God. What we find to be problematic is a “liveable” definition of faith. Again, most of us can quote Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. Our faith is our title deed to eternal life. Just as a title deed is evidence of real estate, so our faith is evidence of our eternal estate in God. AWESOME! That not with-standing, what is faith?
Faith is taking God at His Word and asking no questions. Brother James elaborates on this in his General Epistle, Chapter 2, verses 14 through 18: “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can (that) faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou has faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee My faith by My works”.
There you are, dear ones, faith is taking God at His Word. Need I remind you, we that are His, walk by faith, not by sight.
Be blessed as you walk in Him.
