I have always been intrigued about how the Holy Spirit prompted the organizers of this church to select the name “Friendship”. What a warm and, oh so relevant name. The wise man, Solomon, tells us in Proverbs 18:24: “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: And there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother”. How aptly named, “Friendship”, for you are indeed a friendly people. Be it “Theophilus”, friend of God or “Philadelphia”, city of brotherly love, the members of Friendship are a loving, caring people that love God and His people. For sixty-nine years it has been the mission of this congregation to introduce Christ in a friendly, loving, manner. For we know that it is the goodness of God that leads man to repentance. Jesus had some awesome things to say about friends:
(1) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).
(2) Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you (John 15:14).
The embodiment of the Friendship Baptist Church is her obedience to the Christ who died for her. Happy Birthday Friendship, and let the world know that JESUS IS LORD.<
